Imagine going on a virtual voyage that starts with walking down a paved path past looming limestone walls. The brightly illuminated geological forms surrounding you gradually darken as you descend into a twilight zone where the sunlight wanes.

During one of our IMERSA Day’s mingling a few months ago, there was a casual discussion regarding the kind of shows and experiences that are afforded today in fulldome. For some reason, the word “education” was used as the opposite to “entertainment” and that seemed like a strange dichotomy to me.

SPHERE Las Vegas, a dome theater, opened in Las Vegas, Nevada, in September 2023 amid a flurry of excitement with astronomical ticket prices. To be clear, Sphere is a concert venue, and its vast interior accommodates exuberant, stadium-sized crowds.
